The long goodbye has been longer than we ever thought it would be; instead of days or weeks, it's now been over a year since my mother-in-law was admitted to a nursing home. In hindsight it was naive to think that the suffering would be so short in duration. It was also not apparent at the time that the nursing home into which she'd first been admitted was integral to the condition she was in when I first wrote about her long goodbye .

The first fifteen pages of Zina Sanders' " The Party's Over " is available online to review. And they make me laugh so hard I almost wet myself. The art work is to die for, but the snark is searingly good. I couldn't help think of our favorite FDL alumnus therapod, either, upon reading these last two pages in the review. Damn. I think I need a cigarette, and I don't smoke. Remarkable for a political coffee table book. Santa is going to have to get me this book for Christmas.
