BUI (broadcasting under the influence)

After leaving the McCormick Center this morning following the YearlyKos Convention, I'm sitting in the O'Hare airport, trapped in waiting zone hell as my flight is delayed. Unfortunately I've got plenty of time to watch CNN.

And plenty of time for my blood pressure to be elevated. Amy Walters is covering the YearlyKos convention, and she somehow comes away thinking that Senator Clinton did well.

What the f---?

Clinton dodged at least 3 questions during the Presidential forum, and was hissed at once about one of those dodges. She did not receive the kind of applause that the other candidates received for her efforts.

Walters also claimed that Edwards was out of the first tier -- clearly not true based on the resounding approval of the YKos audience during the event. Granted, Edwards dodged at least once, or perhaps I should say that he finessed a question; he also threw the audience red meat that they ate up.

But Clinton tried to redirect attention from one of her dodges by throwing what she thought was red meat (net neutrality) while evading the question of excessive media consolidation, thereby blowing off her compromised position as a recipient of Rupert Murdoch's largesse.

What are these people smoking? And why are they allowed to be piped into our homes while under the influence?

I'm (im)patiently waiting for some serious blogging from you about YK. Funny how all the blogs dried up for a few days there...hope you had a great time.

And spot on about Hillary. We get a sense here in the cheap seats about how she was really received, but it takes some work.
Oh your points are so well taken. These pundits are serving up a steaming crock nightly - specially tweety..and cnn. They are greasing and a giddy upping the fundie base early and steadily. Freakin water carriers all. Even Keith Olbermann has seemed to go from a 15 min.segment of fluff to a full 30 mins.

But these proclaimations/propaganda undermine the will of the people.

e voting does that too, quite effectively but i digress. I do not visit here near enough. You are on my blog roll for a reason.

As for Ykos, my views are ..well not something i really want to get into here. Just stopping in to say hi really.

Rayne,

For 40 years I've said that I'd never been involved in any newsworthy event that was reported as I had seen it -- including those I was reporting professionally. Reading this from you is like being there -- thank you.

Liveblogged: U.S. vs. Libby -- A primer

As FireDogLake's liveblogging of Libby's trial continues, I note a number of abbreviations, acronyms, slang, shorthand popping up on the fly that most of us Plame-maniacs already know but newbies may not grasp. I'm going to try to document them here, a kind of not-so-secret decoder ring. If there's something you'd like to see added, leave me a comment and I'll cover it here. The quality of mercy

The long goodbye has been longer than we ever thought it would be; instead of days or weeks, it's now been over a year since my mother-in-law was admitted to a nursing home. In hindsight it was naive to think that the suffering would be so short in duration. It was also not apparent at the time that the nursing home into which she'd first been admitted was integral to the condition she was in when I first wrote about her long goodbye .

A passing thought

It's been awfully quiet here in this new blog. I miss my Salon peeps stopping by whenever I posted in my old blog. Had a passing thought, though, while contemplating this new-found quietude: maybe the trolls won't find me here. [Sigh] There are tradeoffs for everything.
